The way we are working, adhering to the law - please read

We are now open inside with limited capacity.

The White Hart is located in an area currently rated as MEDIUM alert level by the UK government.

If you are visiting us from a high alert area please be aware that you must continue to adhere to the rules stipulated by your area whilst visiting ours - for example, you may only socialise indoors as single households. For people who live in VERY HIGH alert level areas, please be reminded that you are advised not to travel out of your area, other than for essential reasons".

  • Face masks are a legal requirement for all staff at all times and for customers at all times unless whilst seated
  • Social distancing –remains at 1m plus with a mitigating factor between households
  • Tiers (we are currently in tier 1 (medium) alert level so all of the mentioned included but we will ask what tier you are from as tier 2 (high risk) requires that only one single household can be accommodated indoors. Tier 3 (very high risk) should not be travelling to another area unless for essential travel i.e. work, we would not be able to accommodate you otherwise
  • Our tables are set for social distancing so please do not move them! We will always try to sit people as close as we can safely
  • No groups larger than 6 but again must be socially distanced at 1m plus between households
  • Table service only – no bar service…we will come to you
  • We close at 9.45pm as we have to legally have all customers off site by 10pm
  • Track & trace – we will require your lead guests details, please feel free to use the app but we will also require your info for our paper back up too!
  • Please follow all signage, one way systems, hand sanitiser points and please wash your hands frequently
  • Due to social distancing laws we are working with a lower capacity of staff so please be kind & understanding – you will have more of a wait than in usual times
  • Any breach of the law or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated and we will no longer be able to serve you and you may be asked to leave
  • We are working incredibly hard in very uncertain times to make your experience with us as safe, relaxed and enjoyable as possible so please work with us!!

The White Hart dates back to the 16th century and offers stunning views across the Blyth estuary. Situated in the historic village of Blythburgh, the pub is ideally placed to enjoy country walks and for visiting the popular coastal towns of Southwold and Walberswick.

Today, the pub is run by Marie and Lee Knight who have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. Lee and his kitchen team are passionate about good food and make the most out of Suffolk’s delicious produce.

In the summer months, you can relax with one of Adnams’ famous Suffolk beers in our extensive beer garden which overlooks the estuary.

Why not stay with us overnight in one of our four double rooms which also feature estuary views.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Please note: the car park is exclusively for the use of patrons. If you are walking and are not using the pub facilities, please use the public car park adjacent to the pub.
